Here is what our families have to say about us....

The Autism Center of Pittsburgh has been a great help to my family. For my youngest daughter, she attended six months of Occupational Therapy at the South Hills center. This therapy helped with her eye hand coordination, helped with her writing, buttoning, and various other things. It was a godsend having a center like this in the south hills. There wasn't a long wait to get therapy like there is at other places. The therapist was great at making sure my daughter got all the help she needed. She was a great source of information and was just wonderful. The Autism Center also has helped my whole family with their support group. The speakers are always informative and always versed on the latest information. It's a great center and has done wonders for my family.

Having 3 boys on the autism spectrum, the Autism Center of Pittsburgh is the 1st place that I felt truly understood each boy, and their individual functioning level. We were able to get all of our services at one place. And most important to me as a mom was that I always felt comfortable and informed when we left!

What has the Autism Center of Pittsburgh done for us? It has given our family an opportunity to be a normal/typical family,we can have conversations, go to a playground and swing together, enjoy amusement parks; things that may not have been possible with a child with PDD-NOS. Having the staff available for advice is comforting since they can speak from personal experiences. We appreciate the convenience of being able to do so many services in one location especially since our daughter with PDD-NOS isn't our only child, these days convenience is key.

The Autism Center of Pittsburgh has been a tremendous resource of information, support and friends for me and my family. It is great to have this local help right at our fingertips. Whatever the question may be, the staff of the Center can help you out or point you in the right direction. The events they offer – horseback riding, hockey games, a Christmas Party – are a great time to relax and meet other parents. Thanks AutismLink and the Autism Center of Pittsburgh – keep up the great work!!!

I have called the South Hills Center a few times for advice and Kristin has be VERY HELPFUL and Supportive... because of Kristens help we get the free diapers and the WIC for my son..all of which we would have never known was available to us because of our son's diagnosis if it were not for Kristin.

While living in the Lehigh Valley area in 2008, my sons were diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. We had a great deal of trouble accessing services there, and I was very confused and overwhelmed by the diagnosis, the treatment, the waiting list to access services, and our upcoming move to the Pittsburgh area. I felt, and was, very alone. It was an extremely difficult time for my family. Every place I turned to for appointments for counseling and services had a waiting list of at least 3 months, and nobody offered any alternatives or support. I was very frustrated and my family was floundering.

Since I was having such a difficult time accessing services in Lehigh Valley, I decided to focus my search on Pittsburgh. We knew we would be moving there over the summer of 2008, so I wanted to find out what sort of services I would find there. I quickly found The Autism Center. Just a few Google searches located them for me. I was astounded at the wealth of information that they provided on their website.

When I called The Autism Center to explain my situation, there were extremely helpful and supportive. They provided me with information on how to access services for my sons, and were able to assist me when I first moved to the area. They also provided me with the opportunity to set up appointments at their location with qualified professionals. This was exactly the type of support I had been looking for when living in Lehigh Valley, but couldn't find.

I am thankful every day that we moved to the Pittsburgh area and that The Autism Center was here to help me and my family. They have made a tremendous difference in my life and in the lives of my family.
