Playing an instrument teaches valuable skills for children including focus, attention, perseverance, delay of gratification, frustration tolerance, and the importance of practice. Recent research also shows that playing an instrument increases the brain’s cortical thickness and enhances synaptic efficiency which leads to even better focus, attention, perseverance… There is a snow-ball effect in that respect.
